LIKELY CAUSES, IN ORDER

What usually did it.

01

Weak igniter

The runaway favorite. It glows orange, looks alive, and pulls too few amps to open the safety valve. Fails by degrees over months.
02

Safety valve

When a healthy igniter meets no gas, the valve itself is suspect — the minority case, tested rather than assumed.
03

Spark module / electrode (broiler & burners)

Endless clicking with no ignition on spark-lit systems: fouled electrode or a tired module.
04

Control or wiring

The rare remainder — pursued only after the ignition chain proves healthy, and quoted in writing like everything else.
BEFORE YOU BOOK

Three checks that are safe to try.

SAFE CHECKTrust your nose first

Gas smell without ignition: stop, ventilate, close the oven's shutoff if you know it, and call — mention the smell and the booking moves up.

SAFE CHECKWatch the igniter glow

Door open, bake on: a glow that never brings the whoomp of ignition within a minute is the classic weak-igniter show. Turn it off after.

SAFE CHECKConfirm other gas works

Cooktop burners lighting normally proves supply and points the fault inside the oven — worth thirty seconds before booking.

HOW WE CLOSE IT

The visit, plainly described.

Igniter current gets measured against manufacturer spec — the number catches a fading igniter that still looks healthy to the eye. Replacement uses OEM-grade parts, and every gas connection we disturb gets leak-checked with solution before panels close; that step is doctrine, not garnish. The all-in price from $289 covers diagnosis, part, labor and the leak-check.

Cycling proof finishes the job: several full ignition cycles, watching for clean light-off and steady flame. Gas ovens repaired this way stay repaired — the fade takes years to return, and the written warranty covers the horizon in between.

ASKED OFTEN

On this fault specifically.

Is a weakly-glowing igniter dangerous or just annoying?

By design it fails safe — no full current, no open valve, no gas. The danger enters with delayed ignition: gas pooling before a late light-off produces the small 'whoomp' owners report. That's the sign to stop using the oven and book, not a quirk to live with.

Why did preheating get slow months before it died?

Because the igniter opens the valve less decisively as it ages — heat arrives in stutters, and preheat stretches from twelve minutes toward thirty. That slow-fade account is practically the fingerprint of this fault; by the time the oven is fully cold, the diagnosis is usually a formality.

Can you check the rest of the gas range while you're in there?

It's standard: every burner gets lit and observed, and any connection we've touched gets the leak solution. If an electrode or module elsewhere on the range is on its way out, you'll hear it as a heads-up with a number — never as pressure.

BOOK A REPAIR

One number in writing. Everything inside it.

Send the symptom or the code exactly as the display shows it. A weekday callback confirms your window, and the van loads for your machine before it leaves Kennewick.

Approve the quote

The all-in price covers diagnosis, labor and parts. It doesn't move after work starts.

Or decline it

$95 for the visit and diagnosis is the whole bill — if the fix costs too much or the machine isn't worth it, that's all you owe.

Tell us what's going on.

Code from the display, or plain words — both work.

Approve the repair and the all-in price covers everything. Decline it, and $95 for the visit and diagnosis is all you owe.
